David Hill, President, DHI
David Hill is a native Texan and 1972 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in finance. David began his real estate career as a real estate salesman while a student at UT. Following the natural progression of many real estate brokers, he began developing small pad sites in the Austin area and then developed his first subdivision in the Westlake area of Austin in the mid-1970’s. In 1977, David and his wife Barbara moved to East Texas as David accepted an opportunity to work for the Temple family’s private real estate development and investment company, Exeter Investments. In 1983, David formed DH Investment Company with his colleague from Exeter, Tom Darmstadter. In 2007, David acquired Mr. Darmstadter’s share of DHI.
Mike Schoenfeld, Vice President of Development, DHI
Mike also is a native Texan and a 1971 University of Texas at Austin business school graduate. Mike began his career in real estate immediately upon graduation working for a real estate investment, development, and brokerage firm in Austin, Texas. He became vice president of the firm prior to starting his own development and brokerage company in 1976. Since then he has been a partner in various real estate development companies and projects and has extensive experience in all facets of the industry. Mike joined DHI in 1999 and has been instrumental in the identification, acquisition, financing, entitlement, development and sales process for several DHI land development projects and investment opportunities in the Austin, Texas area including Covered Bridge, Highpointe, Ledge Stone, two neighborhoods in Steiner Ranch plus Johnson Ranch in Bulverde, Texas.
Charlie Hill, CFO and Vice President of Development, DHI
After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in finance in 2000, Charlie spent five years at Guaranty Bank in Dallas as an Assistant Vice President of commercial real estate lending and also homebuilder finance. In 2005, Charlie, David’s youngest son, joined DHI and has been actively involved in finance, entitlement, development, construction and marketing for new development projects, including Johnson Ranch and Ledgestone, management and leasing of three commercial properties, as well as strategic investment and finance planning for DHI.
